Nani, 23, moved to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in 2007 - the same club as Cristiano Ronaldo had moved from back in 2003. Anderson also moved from Portugal in the summer of 2007 - leaving Porto. Nani and Anderson were welcome by Ronaldo, who helped them settle in Manchester.

Now it's time for Nani to repay his debt, and help the (big) Bébé. "Every place you go, you need someone who speaks your language to help you because if you have no confidence, know nothing about the language then you don't know what to do. I'll try to help, of course, if he wants. No problem."

Asked if he was happy at United, Nani replied: "Yes, of course I'm happy. Everyone wants to play. This is my life. I was born to play football. And if I spend a couple of weeks out off the pitch, of course I'm not happy. I can't be happy. If I'm playing, if I'm doing well then I will be happy because this is all I want to do."

Father Arsenio Isidoro, president of the orphanage in which Bébe lived in, spoke of the youngster's love of football. He said: "Cristiano Ronaldo is his idol, and as he grew up he would watch him play with United, dreaming that one day he would follow in his footsteps."
