Blog: Champions League Draw 26/08/2010
![]() BLOG: Manchester United were amongst four Premier League clubs awaiting their faith in the UEFA Champions League draw on Thursday evening. 32 clubs have learned which group, and which three teams they face in this season's European Championship Group Stages. We had all the action, live... Group A: Inter Milan, Werder Bremen, Tottenham Hotspur, FC Twente Group B: Olympique Lyon, Benfica, Schalke, Hapoel Tel-Aviv Group C: Manchester United, Valencia, Rangers, Bursaspor Group D: Barcelona, Panathinaikos, FC Copenhagen, Rubin Kazan Group E: Bayern Munich, Roma, FC Basel, CFR Cluj Group F: Chelsea, Marseille, Spartak Moscow, MSK Zilina Group G: AC Milan, Real Madrid, Ajax, Auxerre Group H: Arsenal, Shakhtar Donetsk, Braga, Partizan Belgrade Matchday 1: 14th/15th September Matchday 2: 28th/29th September Matchday 3: 19th/20th October Matchday 4: 2nd/3rd November Matchday 5: 23rd/24th November Matchday 6: 7th/8th December UEFA Club Goalkeeper Of The Year: Julio Cesar Defender: Douglas Maicon Midfielder: Wesley Sneijder Forward: Diego Milito (also Player Of The Year) (all Inter Milan) 5:30pm United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer presents the UEFA Club Forward Of The Year, where undeservedly in my opinion, Inter's Diego Milito picks-up the award ahead of Wayne Rooney and Barca's Lionel Messi. 5:00pm The ceremony in Monaco has just begun. Usual red-tape nonsense before they actually begin to draw the teams ! 4:58pm The dates for the Group Games are as follows: 14/15th September, 28/29th September, 19/20th October, 2nd/3rd November, 23rd/24th November, 7/8th December (above also). 4:54pm The draw begins at 5pm (BST) in Monaco. Sky Sports News is probably the best choice of channel if you would like to watch the draw take place Live... 4:42pm There are obviously a number of possible conclusions this evening, but maybe the most daunting is facing Real Madrid, who sit in Pot 2. Who do you think we'll draw, and what are your prediction's for this season's European campaign ? 4:50pm United are seeded in Pot 1 - the highest seed - and will be drawn with one team from Pot 2,3 and 4. Thus, The Red's cannot face teams in Pot 1 until after the group stages. There is also a country-protection policy, which basically means no team can draw another team from their nation. So, United will not draw Spurs, despite them being in different pot. 4:45pm Here are the team's to be drawn this evening; Pot 1: Inter Milan, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Lyon. Pot 2: Werder Bremen, Real Madrid, Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica, Valencia, Marseille, Panathinaikos. Pot 3: Tottenham Hotspur, Rangers, Ajax, Schalke, FC Basel, Braga, FC Copenhagen, Spartak Moscow. Pot 4: Hapoel Tel-Aviv, FC Twente, Rubin Kazan, Auxerre, CFR Cluj, FK Partizan, MSK Zilina, Buraspor.
