A team of FIFA Inspectors have arrived at The Theatre Of Dreams today, as part of their tour of possible World Cup venues in England. If the favorites are chosen to host the World Cup in 2018, Old Trafford will be the venue for one of the semi-finals...

The delegation from the World football governing body have met with United Chief Executive David Gill, legend Sir Bobby Charlton and England 2018 Director Andy Anson - former United Commercial Director. Sir Alex Ferguson is also heavily involved in the tour, which has seen the FIFA Inspectors travel around England, checking-out potential venues for the 2018 World Cup.

England captain Rio Ferdinand and striker Wayne Rooney have also spoke with the Inspectors during the tour of Old Trafford.

Other countries in the running to host the 2018 World Cup include Russia, Spain and The USA. Earlier this week, boss Sir Alex gave his backing to England's bid. "The facilities for both players and fans are magnificent, from training grounds to stadia and the passion of the English people for the game would ensure that everybody would be made to feel welcome. It would be a memorable occasion and would inspire people all over the world."

The six-man FIFA team have met with this year's World Cup final referee, Englishman Howard Weeb in Manchester earlier. The delegation have already visited London, where they met with UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, they then headed to the North East, and have now have arrived in the North West.
