Fergie Faces FA Fines Over BBC Snub 23/08/2010
![]() Sir Alex Ferguson is set for another wrap from The FA, as he keeps his protest against The BBC alive. The Reds boss has refused to talk to the national broadcaster since 2004, after they aired a documentary defaming him and his son, Jason... The 2004 BBC Panorama documentary entitled 'Father and Son' portrayed the gaffer's son, Jason Ferguson - a football agent, as somebody who exploited his father's influence and position to his own advantage in the transfer market. The documentary caused an uproar, and since it's airing, Sir Alex has never spoken to The BBC on the account that it was 'nonsense'. The boss declines interviews with The BBC, which is the long-standing cause for his absence on 'Match Of The Day' - where United assistant Mike Phelan gives his thoughts and reaction instead. In the past, Fergie said he would never talk to the national channel again. He has kept that promise. United-Latest.Com tonight understands that The FA could possibly fine Sir Alex £1,000 per week, despite earlier reports stating the sanction could be up to £6,000 each week he declines an interview. We also understand that Manchester United could take the matter to court. In the past, the Scot accused The BBC of being 'arrogant beyond belief', saying they were 'the type of company that never apologise' for their 'whole lot of nonsense' documentary. The 68-year-old has not been sanctioned in the last 6 years because of a loop-hole in Premier League regulation, however new guidelines mean managers must give an interview to England's official broadcaster. The FA were said to be 'disappointed' that the manager wouldn't resolve the dispute, with a United spokeperson saying: "Mike Phelan is available to provide analysis and comment if required. We support the manager's position." The debacle continues... Commentsmykie 23/08/2010 1:18am

The FA wouldn't do that to any other manager or club... that's for sure.

Surely his personal civil liberties give him the right to speak (or not) to whoever he likes?

It's up to the BBC to apologise to Fergie. There was nothing to their story - had there been any truth to it they would have kept running with it. If they are too arrogant to adnit they were wrong then f*ck them
