Nemanja Vidic Pens New 4-Year Deal 20/08/2010
![]() Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has signed a new four-year deal with the club, which will keep the 29-year-old at Old Trafford until 2014 at the earliest. The Serbian has now ended speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid and also AC Milan... David Gill had earlier announced that Vidic would stay at The Theatre Of Dreams, and confirmed that the club was close to agreeing a contract extension with Vidic, whose previous deal lasted until 2012. Vidic signed for The Reds on Christmas Day, 2005 from Spartak Moscow for over £7 Million. After a some very solid seasons, picking-up three Premier League titles, a European honour and other domestic triumphs, both Real Madrid and AC Milan became interested in the Serbian powerhouse, with Man City also reported to be monitoring his situation. Speaking on the new long-term deal, Vidic told ManUtd.Com: "I am very happy to sign this contract. I came to this club when I was young and have developed enormously with the help of the manager, coaching staff and my team-mates. During my time here we have had a lot of success and I look forward to continuing that success in the coming seasons." Sir Alex also spoke to the club's website, claiming the deal has 'killed' any remaining speculation on the Serbian International's future. "This kills all the silly speculation over the past few months. Nemanja has developed into one of the best centre-halves in Europe and we are pleased he will be here for many years to come..." That's great news for us, now we can look forward to him and Evans forging a devastating partnership at the back. I think Rio's career's almost done, he's too brittle these days. Good luck Vida, we want more Champions League trophies during your stay at Old Trafford

Getting Vidic signed up was more important than signing Ozil or anyone else you care to mention.

Vidic £7m from Spartak Moscow, Evra £5.5m from Monaco - these two are right up there with Irwin, Schmeichel and Cantona as Fergie's greatest bargain signings.

Fuck off, sap. No-one is crying about anything. Don't I have a right to be unhappy about what the Glazer cunts have done to my club?

Fred's right to be honest, we should have got someone bid already (maybe not Ozil, but Sneijder or Van Der Vaart). There is still time, but The Glazers have ruined our summer. Let's hope they don't go on to ruining our club...
