Anderson Nearly Quit United 21/08/2010
![]() Reds midfielder Oliveira Anderson was close to leaving Old Trafford, according to Sir Alex Ferguson. Anderson had been linked with a move to a number of French clubs, but he decided against asking for a transfer after he picked-up an injury... Late last season, Marseille, Lyon and Paris St. Germain were all said to be interested in the 22-year-old Brazilian. However, Anderson suffered a knee ligament problem against West Ham United in February, which ruled him out for the rest of the season. Anderson was then involved in a serious car crash in Portugal, where he escaped critical injury after on-lookers pulled him out of his Audi R8 sportscar moments before it exploded. Many fans argued that the boss should get rid of him this summer after his antics. However, it looks as thought Sir Alex will keep the midfielder at the club, saying that it was Anderson himself who wanted to leave. "Anderson has an incredible talent. He loves training and playing. He wants to play every game and train every day." "But that is a problem for me because at 22 he has not got the maturity to understand we operate a squad here. When he does understand that, he will be a fantastic player here but last season he was talking about leaving because he was not playing in every game." "Maybe it is a good thing he has been injured for a spell because he can look at the situation," he explained. "It is wonderful to see someone who wants to play every minute of every day. If you have someone with that enthusiasm, you have to be careful you don't check it to the point when you lose it." "I didn't talk to him about leaving. I just let him get it out of his system. Maybe the injury has quelled the storm in his body because he came back here with the same enthusiasm and has been telling me he is ready to play." CommentsFredster 21/08/2010 9:25pm
His name isn't really "Oliveira Anderson" you know. His full name is Anderson Luís de Abreu Oliveira.

If you want to keep it really simple, just call him Anderson!

This boy has got talent but he needs to get his head straight. Sir Alex is willing to give him a chance so I'm hoping we'll be seeing the real Anderson this season. It's now or never...
