Match Report - MLS All-Stars 2-5 United Competition: International Friendly Kick-Off & Date: 1:30am, Thursday 29th July Venue: Reliant Stadium (Neutral) Attendance: 70,728 Manchester United new-boy Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez topped-off a stunning all-round performance on Wednesday night / Thursday morning, as the young 22-year-old Mexican striker opened his account on his debut. Kiko Macheda netted a brace before the interval, as the MLS All-Stars hit back with a goal from Brian Ching. But the American's dream was quickly squashed with fantastic goals from Darron Gibson and Tom Cleverley coming within 9 minutes after the All-Stars' goal, in which they had been thrown a life-line. But if was Chicharito, making his United debut, that will grab all the headline as he chipped goalkeeper Nick Rimando from 20-yards out, 20 minutes after he entered the fray... Darren Fletcher and John O’Shea were both passed fit to start the game, after picking-up knocks in the embarrassing defeat to the Kansas City Wizards on Sunday night. Sir Alex's men were out to redeem themselves and did just that on front of a massive sell-out crowd of over 70,000 in the beautiful Reliant Stadium in Houston. Just 23 seconds into the game, Kiko Macheda had found the net. Defender Jamison Olave slipped, letting the 18-year-old Italian in on-goal, where he coolly finished past Donovan Ricketts. Then 11 minutes later, Luis Nani floated in a fantastic corner, which Macheda got his head to - and placed the ball nicely into the back of the net from an unmarked position in the six-yard box. A fantastic start for United, as Kiko was in search of a hat-trick already... The MLS side were pretty shocked with United's one-two, but slowly they regained possession and started to threaten the goal. Tom Cleverley made a quick appearance, as Gabby Obertan limped-off with a bad knock - the verdict: two weeks out ! Despite the home side bombarding the goal, The Reds managed to stay ahead going into the break. Sir Alex and Mike Phelan made no changes at half time. But Hernandez and Danny Welbeck replaced Luis Nani, who was struggling with a cramp, and Macheda on the hour mark. The appearance of Chicharito was met with a huge roar, and, of course, a Mexican wave. And it was Hernandez who nearly made an impact right away, as he shot straight at the substitute keeper after a good through ball from Rafa Da Silva. However, Brian Ching nodded the ball into the back of Edwin Van Der Sar's net, as he rose to meet David Ferreira's free-kick. With over an hour gone, United knew they needed another goal to seal the win. And within minutes of the All-Star's goal - Darron Gibson struck a fantastic free-kick into the goal via the upright... Just moments later, and Cleverley made it 4-1. Three great touches beat three defenders before striking the ball into the net to earn him his second tour goal. With 83 minutes gone, it was all over. Or was it ? - Darren Fletcher floated an inch-perfect ball to Hernandez, onside, and in-space. The Mexican didn't even take a touch before he lobbed the ensuing goalkeeper, grabbing an historic debut goal. And putting the cherry on top for Manchester United. Dwayne De Rosario finished nicely in the 90th minute to net a well deserved consolation for the Americans. But it was United's night, topped off by the debut of new-boy Javier Hernandez. 5-2 the final score in The Red's last game of the USA Tour 2010... and picking up the MLS All-Stars trophy in the process !
