Tomasz Kuszczak has said he is ready to step-up to the challenge to become Edwin Van Der Sar's successor at Old Trafford. United are currently said to be in the market for a replacement for the 39-year-old Dutch keeper. But Kuszczak has claimed he can do the job...

Kuszczak made only 14 starts for United last season, 8 of which were in the Premier League. With Van Der Sar set to retire within the next two season, Sir Alex is looking for a suitable replacement - but Kuszczak said the boss should look no further.

The 28-year-old Polish International told reporters: "I hope it will be a big season for me. This will be my fifth with the club and I hope to play even more games. My challenge is simple - after Edwin finishes I want to be number one at Manchester United."

"It's not easy to sit on the bench - I have many ambitions and I want to keep progressing as a player. Manchester United is a great club and I believe it's a club I can play at for many years."
