Gill: Fergie Can, And Might Spend ! 27/07/2010
![]() Manchester United chief executive David Gill has reiterated that there is money to spend on new players. Sir Alex had earlier said there was 'no value' in the market, sparking speculation that Old Trafford had zilch in the bank. But is it just th usual Glazer-fuelled propaganda... ? Gill told the Manchester Evening News: "The money is there if we believe there is a player who can improve what we believe is a very good squad. The team has been together for a number of years and done very well. In order to improve it a player has to be of a very high quality." Asked who the boss was looking at signing, he said: "We are always looking at players. We are looking 365 days a year - it doesn't just start when the transfer window opens. We are looking at it. We studied a lot of players at the World Cup, but we knew about a lot of them before that." "Over all I think Sir Alex is very comfortable with the squad composition. That's not to say something won't happen, but I think it is a 'might', not a 'will'. We will see what happens over the next six weeks..." Commentsbrian 27/07/2010 10:51am
well one person is saying one thing and the other saying another thing. to be honnest i dont whos telling the truth. fergie sayaing no value in transfer window and gill saying there is money there spend. if there is money tthere to spend why ddont they go way and spend. 13 for ozil. 13 million for defour. sonme how dont think thats tru after what happend with hargo. so lets splash the cash on ozil. and maybe a striker. i am getting fed with lies coming out of old trafford

All of this seems to fit into the Ozil category, watching players during and before the world cup

We should have over 100mill in our transfer kitty. We still haven't spent the Ronnie money and usually have 25-30 mill each season anyway. I reckon after signing little pea and Smalling we've got about 25mill plus whatever we can bring in by selling.

I think that it is wise on the part of the Club to know who they want and get them at a price that is reasonable. There is no point in doing a RealMadrid and pay GBP 50, 60, 70, 80 or 90 million for a player who could be useless if injured 'accidentally.' SAF's, Gill's, and the Club's (not the Glazers') actions should be respected. Surely they have have the Club's progress at heart and will not plan its downfall. They are too loyal to MUFC for that. If they say there is money for one or more marquee signing before 31 August, there must be. Let us be loyal supporters and support their decisions and not continue to through a spanner into the smooth-flowing machinery that MUFC is.

If Ozil goes to City I won't begrudge him one bit. In fact I hope he scores a fucking hat-trick against us in the derby, then maybe the clowns who run our club might realise that the most exciting young playmaker in the world, who lit up the World Cup, might just have been worth a punt at a measly 12 fucking million after all.

The latest is that Spurs are going to stump up the £12m for Ozil. YCNMIU! City and their billions is one thing but if Spurs get him on the cheap we really will be kicking ourselves.

Personally I think SAF is waiting until he either has made some positive contact with bremen or ozil himself or is waiting until he has to make a bid...or else he might not be interested at all
Reply
Fredster 27/07/2010 6:29pm
Waiting until he HAS to make a bid? You mean like if City have a bid of £20m accepted in the next five minutes? Then we're suddenly going to spring into action? It's ridiculous. £12m FFS how fucking cheap do we want this guy? I fucking hate the Glazer cunts. >:-(

Fredster 27/07/2010 6:31pm
There is of course the possibility that Fergie doesn't actually want Ozil, in which case he must be deluded about the quality of our current squad. :-(

yes city are favourites at 1. 17. but not by much. other forunms are saying all this stuff. as i said it probaly a rumoure. a man united fans spotted ozil at an airport. and rumours are flying around that david gill has flown home. and sky bet have take ozil net club of the sky bet betting list. now i dont now what that means. i said could well mean bettings are suspend. more than unlikely not. i am not to well up in bettings so i dont no. as isaid while ago this could be a wind up.

Funniest thing about all this Ozil specualtion is that there is no concrete evidence that United are even interested in signing Ozil this summer. It's all just fantasy. I think I'll just avoid all these blogs and forums until the 1st of September then check the official site to find out whether we signed Ozil or not!

What's the source of the info about Ozil being on holiday until August 2nd? I'd already heard that he's on holiday and the rumours about him being in Barca were lies. TBH, I think the rumour about him flying into Manchester is a lie too.
