United Join Fernando Torres Race ? 15/07/2010
![]() Reports have today ridiculously suggested that Manchester United are ready to bid up to £50 Million for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. Manchester City and Chelsea have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old Spanish striker to date... but we can hardly afford a few million, never mind fifty ! New Scouser boss Roy Hodgson is said to be flying out to meet 'El Nino' - on holidays - to get a final answer on the Spaniard's future at The Kop. Chelski owner Roman Abramovich also supposedly flew out to meet the star's agents, but no deal was struck. Oil-rich City are also interested in Torres, and were ready to bid £70 Million just over a year ago (apparently). Liverpool are said to be looking for £50 Million, with The Blues favourites to land the former Athletico Madrid ace. United have also been linked with Torres, but we can hardly afford such a massive price-tag. Surely ? Well theoretically, we should easily be able to spend £50 Million on any given player - with Cristiano Ronaldo's £80 Million transfer fee, and the club's £200 Million from various sponsorship deals (incl. AON's £80 Million) over the past year. £280 Million is a budget equal to Real Madrid's or City's - but we don't have a penny of it - nor any of the £80 Million from AIG over the last four years... Thanks to The Glazer Family's £1.1 Billion debts - £750 Million of which is from the purchase of our club, the rest from shopping retail and properties, we find ourselves edging towards bankruptcy. The richest sporting organisation on the planet (according to Forbes) doesn't have a penny to spare. Charming. Commentsjack 15/07/2010 5:25pm

wait a minute. Y guys bitc* and maon about we dont have money and should have a least 200 million and the glazers used all to pay the debit and we cann't buy players. First of all prove it hard core facts. I believe that the used some to pay the debit and put some in the bank for united to spend. How much they gave united to apend is the question. That what we need to find out. Like i said before show every big clube balance sheet to see how much debt of there they get to hide from there fans.People are just jeauose or United and to start shit by showing are balance sheet to ther world. Know there laughing because united fan are acting like big babies and thats what those antiUnited People wanted and they got it look at us complianing about everything.

Quite frankly, no United fan gives a sh#t about what other fans think. We are on of the best clubs in the World, and to sustain that title - we MUST invest in players.

To be honest United latest If I were the boss and u spent my 30 million on a player that hasn't worked out so far. I would be u better be sure that next player u send 30 million on or more works and pays off. Do understand were im going with this. Maybe malcolm weary on spending another 30 million because of dimitar. I hope u understand that point that could be the case.

Why don't the FA of the english primerleage Do what the NFL does make all teams dissclose there finacal balance sheet of the teams to them. If you are in debt and cann't meet the requarement of maintaning the team with in 12 months U are forced to sell the team. That has happend in the 1970. And if the NFl suspect any foul play with owner finaces the will investigate. That surelly would make the glazers sell united if the fa did that. Me i would perfer one owner instead of a bunch of wealth owners.

Yes! I've been thinking that United at least need to give it a shot. Torres might at least think about it, and it's not like it hasn't been done before (Michael Owen). 50m would be a bit overrated given his injury situation, which shows no sign of improving, but I always thought United should at least have a crack at bringing this player to Old Trafford.
