Nemanja Vidic Agrees New United Deal 23/07/2010
![]() Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has put an end to rumours regarding his future by agreeing terms to extend his current contract. The 28-year-old is expected to receive a £20,000-a-week boost to his wage package, which will make him United's third highest paid player at £90,000 per week... Speaking to MUTV, CEO David Gill said: "We sat with Nemanja and his advisor at the end of the season and started discussions. They broke up when Nemanja went away to the World Cup but resumed when Serbia were knocked out and I'm very pleased to reveal that we agreed terms with Nemanja three or four weeks ago on a new long-term deal with the club." Vidic had been linked with a move to Real Madrid, amid reports José Mourinho was keen on signing one of the world's top defenders. Jonny Evans is in-line as Vida's eventual replacement, with Chris Smalling ready to stand-in for 31-year-old Rio Ferdinand. ![]() Roo to discuss new contract aswell The length or terms of the contract are yet to be revealed by the club, as Vidic has not yet put pen-to-paper on the 'long-term' deal. Gill also confirmed that the club are ready to sit-down and talk with Wayne Rooney to discuss an improved contract for the 24-year-old, who has already committed his future to Old Trafford. Roo is on holidays at the moment, and will begin talks as soon as he returns... CommentsFred 23/07/2010 6:16pm

I was telling anyone who'd listen that people were reading too much into Fergie's comments about how he couldn't "clarify" Vidic's future to the media. I knew all along he just meant that nothing needed clarifying.

RE: Harry. Nope, not at the moment. Bleacher Report is the only medium reporting the story. Personal Terms never mean they've signed him anyway.
