Both Luis Fabiano and Manchester United have been told to forget about the 29-year-old Brazil playmaker joining Old Trafford. Sevilla president Jose Maria Del Nido has laughed-off Fabiano's public plea for a 'European footballing giant' to sign him up before he gets too old - but his dreams are quickly fading...

"Considering the way the transfer market is at the moment, it's difficult for us to receive an offer for Luis Fabiano that isn't ridiculous (small)," said Del Nido. "I believe that the most likely solution is that he stays on at Sevilla."

"He says he wants to play for a big club like Milan or Manchester United. I put these statements down to the heat that clouds the heads of Brazilians when they leave their cities." he added: "I would like for Luis Fabiano to renew with Sevilla as soon as possible, signing an extension for another three seasons."
 
However, last week Fabiano stated: "I have made it clear I will not be signing a new contract with Sevilla and at 29 I now need to join a club where I can start challenging for the highest honours from the first season. The choice will come down to Manchester United and AC Milan, that is the sort of team I want to be signing for, one of the true giants of Europe."

Fabiano, who has scored three times in four matches in South Africa, still has less than a season left on his contract, and will sign on a free for United or Milan - if his contract isn't renewed, or if the Spanish side decide to sell him. So his Brazilian nut might not be cracked after-all !
