The FA have confirmed that United will battle Chelsea for the 2010 Community Shield. Saturday, 8th of August has been booked at Wembley, as the two Premier League giants look to grab some earlier silverare for the 2010/2011 season. United have been the most successful club in the yearly curtain raiser, and as a result hold the following records;

• United have won the most shields since the competition began in 1908, which they won that year too - The Reds have had 13 outright and 4 shared wins.
• The highest scoring game was Manchester United's 8-4 win against Swindon Town in 1911.
• The most successful player in the competition is Ryan Giggs, with 7 outright wins in; 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2007, 2008 with United.
• Ryan Giggs also holds the record of the most Shield appearances, with 13 to his name.
• Sadly United hold the record for most consecutive losses, being 4, from 1998-2001. During this period United also held the record for most consecutive games played, 6, from 1996-2001 - in which they won 2.

Last year, The Reds also played Chelsea in the shield, drawing 2-2 in normal time - Luis Nani and Wayne Rooney getting the goals. However Sir Alex's men lost in the ensuing penalty shoot-out. Just under 86,000 fans attended the 2009 Community Shield, with The FA distributing all proceeds to nominated community and charitable projects across the country.
