Wayne Rooney against Mexico, 24th May
England weren't at their best on Monday night at Wembley, but nevertheless 'The Three Lions' put as-many past Mexico in an exciting friendly encounter. Rio Ferdinand skippered the side to victory, with Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick playing alongside. Eager United fans also caught a glimpse of Javier Hernandez, as the Mexicans went down with a fight...

England signed-off in their final game at Wembley before the World Cup with a 3-1 victory over Mexico on Monday night. Ledley King, Peter Crouch and Glen Johnson were all on-target for an agitated Fabio Capello.

The Three Lions took the lead when King opened the scoring, heading home within 20 minutes. Then Crouch, who was involved in the build-up to the first goal, turned Rooney's effort into the net with his noggin' 10 minutes before the interval.

But it wasn't all plain sailing, as the last kick of the half ended in a Mexican goal. When Guillermo Franco converted after some scrappy defending by the England backline. The home side settled after the break, as Ferdinand and Carrick - who both endured a solid first-half - made-way for Jamie Carragher and Tom Huddlestone respectively.

Rooney proved his tactical awareness time and time again - combining with Steven Gerrard and Theo Walcott amongst others. But it was Glen Johnson who secured the win for England, making it 3-1 with a fabulous curling strike inside the box. Javier Hernandez had come-on earlier in the second half, and made some impressive runs and passes - but in truth it wasn't Mexico's night... we'll have to wait 'till the World Cup to see the real Chicharito shine !

Tune in later tomorrow (Tuesday), when we'll round-up all the International Friendlies...

javier did well considerin he had 3dfers on him at all times, they already worried by him and rightfully so- neat passes neva givin ball away, always lookin make room and run, shown intent flatten milner like a bull. how huddlestone not bookd 4 tossin lad to ground off ball was shockin and typical carragher shirt tuggin 2 prevent lad challenge a cross...very impressives 45mins though.
