Former Red, Carlos Tevez may be a bulldog on the pitch, but Rio Ferdinand has revealed Tevez 'takes it easy' in training. The big centre-back was quick to start the pre-derby jibes, as United visit Eastlands next weekend. Ferdinand said that Tevez' form on the pitch isn't reflected off it ! 

Tevez left United for 'noisy neighbours', City, last summer - for the money, of course. And since then he has caused nothing but trouble, including a scrap with Gary Neville. And Ferdinand was quick to criticise the City striker's work in training.

Tevez has had an amazing season with the oil-rich rivals, no doubt about it: scoring 22 Premier League goals in his debut season. But he has made the sacrifice of no trophies, choosing higher wages instead. He has scored three times against United since leaving, but Sir Alex's men have had the last laugh in all ties - a 4-3 spectacle in The League, and a 4-3 aggregate win, knocking City out of the Carling Cup !

City host United on Saturday lunchtime at the Eastlands, and we will need to win the derby if we have any slim chance of regaining the Premier League Title. Rio has already stuck his neck out, branding the Argentinian as 'lazy'...

"Carlos is an interesting character. When he was at United, he saved all his energy for the games - he didn't really go over the top at training. He worked hard in the gym - he was a professional in that sense - but everything he did was geared towards the match at the weekend." revealed the new England captain.

"You could see him conserving his energy during the week and then laying it all on the line out on the pitch. That's not the way I operate ! - I have to train at a high level every day. But it works for Carlos and he can be a real handful to defend against."

And I think you'll find Dimitar Berbatov is quite the opposite !
