Danny Welbeck has joined Preston North End for the rest of the season. The 19-year-old is Darren Ferguson's (son of Sir Alex) first signing, after taking over the reigns at North End earlier this month.  

The promising 19-year-old signed a four-year deal at Old Trafford in December. He will be eligible to play on Tuesday night against Ferguson Junior's old club, Peterborough United - whom he left last November.

Welbeck is said to be happy with the deal, which will keep him at Deepdale until the end of the season. However, rumour has it that after Welbeck's poor performance in the Leeds defeat at The Theatre Of Dreams, Sir Alex gave him the 'hair-dryer treatment'.

But the loan will no-doubt help the highly-rated U21 England international develop as a player, since he will get a start in the first XI.

Preston currently lie three from the bottom in the Championship - and Darren Ferguson has a lot to do, but with priceless advice from his Dad he's sure not to fail !
