Was Mike Dean City's '12th Man' ? 21/01/2010
So, City won 2-1 at the Eastlands after Carlos Tevez scored a double against his former club, after going 1-0 down. Here is a few complaints I have about referee Mike Dean's performance... 1. The first goal that City scored came from a penalty, it clearly was NOT a penalty, and I think ref. Dean only gave the the penalty because of the occasion. As you can see from the above video: Rafael did have a tug at Craig Bellamy's shirt - but this was OUTSIDE THE BOX and wasn't a foul outside it anyway, Bellamy (who punched United fan at Old Trafford, in the last derby - and got away Scott-free from The FA) managed to get past Rafael and travel about five metres before he passed the ball across the area, but as he had to stretch for the ball he slipped on Eastland's bad pitch... The ref then gives a penalty and two yellow cards follow; one for poor Rafael for an invisible foul, and also a booking for Van Der Sar after 'time wasting', even though Dean hadn't blown the whistle ! 2. Tevez should have been sent-off before the penalty was given - thus not scoring it, after a high-footed tackle on Wes Brown, and some awful hack's at various United players... ref. Dean didn't even book him for either ! 3. Bellamy - who slipped in the area actually appealed for a penalty - yellow card for diving I say, and he also should have been booked after coming in late on a few United players - so himself and Tevez should have been off the field before the 40th minute, when the penalty was given. But Dean failed to even award a foul against Bellamy, never mind a booking or a sending-off ! 4. City's second goal: i.) It wasn't a corner in the first place, it was a through-ball from Tevez to Bellamy, and United didn't actually touch the ball ! ii.) Bellamy took the corner with the ball clearly outside the corner-quadrant. The ref or linesmen somehow didn't notice this, as they do in nearly all other matches... iii.) Tevez was clearly impeding Van Der Sar when the corner was taken, VDS appealed, but ref was oblivious to this. iv.) When the ball was put back across the face of the goal after the corner - Tevez was definitely in an offside position, yet the linesmen or the ref fail to see this aswell. With at least four wrong-doings in the build-up to City's second and winning goal: the officials can't seem to notice any of them... Don't you find this a bit strange ? -IN THIS MATCH THE 12TH MAN WASN'T THE CITY FANS - IT WAS MIKE DEAN ! Comments Comments are closed. |
