Rooney eyeing 23 goals and upwards ! 01/01/2010
![]() Rooney has set his sights on scoring more this season than he ever has scored before. Rooney has scored 15th goals this season, his best-ever return for this stage of the season. His previous goalscoring record was in 2006/2007, in which he scored a huge 23 goals, as did Ronaldo that year, but Rooney is more determined than ever, after Ronaldo left for Madrid, and United have already scored about 10 more goals compare to last season ! "I'd certainly hope to beat that total," he told MUTV. "If I don't get at least eight more goals between now and the end of the season then something must be seriously wrong. Hopefully I can beat it." 'Best-Performance Of The Season' Rooney also said that he thought that the 5-0 mauling of Wigan was United's best-performance yet ! "We knew before the game we were seven behind them and we wanted to close that gap; we're really pleased to have done that," said the in-form striker. "Winning 5-0 in the Premier League is quite a rare feat these days and I'd say it was one of our best performances of the season." "We played some quick football, counter-attacked them well and scored good goals. It could have been a bit better at times in the second half, but overall we're pleased." Rooney also hailed Rafael for setting him up and also scoring himself; "It was a great ball from Rafael and I thought he was brilliant throughout. He's so sharp against opposition wingers and going forward he's always a threat." Comments Comments are closed. |
