Berba takes on Wigan's Chris Kirkland
United's last game of 2009, will it be a good one ?

Match Preview - Manchester United v Wigan Athletic

Competition: FA Barclays Premier League
Kick-Off & Date: 8pm, Wednesday 30th December
Venue: Old Trafford (Home)
Live TV Coverage:
 None

Referee: TBC
Assistant referees: TBC
Fourth Official: TBC

Form: Wigan aren't in the best of form, just above the relegation zone, and without a win in their last four games. Their last game was against Blackburn Rovers on boxing day and finished one-a-piece. They haven't had a good run with the big teams; Chelsea, Villa and Tottenham have all beat them, with Spurs scoring 9, and their best being a draw with struggling Man City.

United won 3-1 last time out, against Hull City after a poor 3-0 defeat to Fulham. The back line is looking a bit more respectable, but it's far from perfect. A win will put them 2 points behind Chelsea, who are playing brutal, they did win 2-1 against Fulham, but only after an OG and a terrible performance. The last 10 meetings with Wigan have all been won by United, last August United beat the 'Lactics' 5-0 !

Injury News: No injury worries for Wigan - except for Mohamed Diame, (knee injury). Wigan have practically had an injury-free season so far.

Nemanja Vidic, Wes Brown and Rafael Da Silva were back against Hull and now Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Anderson are all available, so it's looking better for United. However Evans and Ferdinand are both still out and Edwin van der Sar has stayed in Holland to keep a bed-side vigil on his 'poorly' wife, who suffered a brain haemorrhage two days before Christmas - lets hope she gets better !

Your Need-To-Know's;

Roberto Martínez
Manager: 'The Stylish' Roberto Martínez; his free-flowing football up-front has created some disasters at the back, however after the hammering at the hands of Spurs they bounced back and beat Chelsea. Martinez played for Wigan in the 90's and is now back as there manager !

Hugo Rodallega
Most-Feared: Hugo Rodallega, the Colombian striker is Wigan's top-goalscorer, with 7 in the League. He bagged their equaliser last weekend against Blackburn. His speed and agility will be hard to keep under-control, espically for a United backline that isn't at it's best !

Prediction: United 4-1 Wigan, Rooney to score at least once !

Wednesday's Other Matches:
Portsmouth v Arsenal, 7:45pm - Fratton Park
